St Mark's 'Winged Lions' for Children and Young People

On Sunday mornings our "Winged Lions" meet during the 9.30 Eucharist, with art, crafts, games and drama related to the day's bible readings before we all meet back together in church for the second part of the service.
On one Sunday each month, the service is often planned and led by one of our young people's groups, and might include readings, songs or drama about the day's themes.
Our older children and Young People will be going on a residential trip to Seahouses in the Spring/Summer, and we have just started some "Holy Hangouts" where children can come and enjoy a themed day of activities with a chance to explore an aspect of faith. The last one, themed around Harry Potter, was rather popular!
1st Shiremoor Scouting
The 1st Shiremoor Scouts, Cubs and Beavers meet at Holystone Primary School each week during term time. The groups come to St Mark's for Church Parade at special times of the year, and Fr Tony is chair of 1st Shiremoor Scouting.
This year for St George's Day the Scouts, Cubs and Beavers came to church to learn all about our patron saint and the weird and wonderful stories associated with himm and in November the Scouting groups took part in our Remembrance Day service to mark the centenary of the beginning of the First World War.
