Meet some of the team at St Mark's...

We have a lot going on at St Mark's, so we rely on a dedicated team of ministers and volunteers to make things happen!

Here are some of the team and what they get up to at St Mark's:

Fr Tony worked on the railway before becoming a priest, and previously served in the Parish of Morpeth, before moving to Shiremoor in 2013. He is a researcher in Old Testament and Feminist Biblical scholarship, and is interested in education of all sorts.

The Vicar: Fr Tony Curtis SCP
Church Warden: Tricia Rook

Tricia is one of our Churchwardens, and was confirmed at St Mark's after moving here from the South East. Tricia is one of the leaders of our popular "Late Create" craft group, and is also one of our "Winged Lions" leaders on a Sunday morning.

Margaret is our Parish Safeguarding Officer, and can be contacted if you have any concerns about a young person or a vulnerable adult. Margaret has previously worked for Newcastle Cathedral, and for the safeguarding team in the Diocese.

Safeguarding: Margaret Robertson
Organist: Andrew Soulsby

Andrew is our regular organist and works with our singing group for big services. He has a huge wealth of experience from shows to cathedrals, and is also an accomplished teacher based in Whitley Bay at 1685 Piano and Harpsichord Tuition.

Fr Jim served as Vicar of St Peter's, Monkseaton, becoming an Honorary Canon, and subsequently moved to Whittingham in Northumberland where he was Area Dean of Alnwick, before coming to Shiremoor where he has been equally busy!

Canon Jim Robertson
Church Warden: Trevor Hunter

Trevor is our other Churchwarden, and is a dab hand at organising socials such as our summer Barbeques and trips to Durham Cathedral, as well as having experience of the many practical jobs which keep the church in good conditionall year round.

Children's Advocate: Rachel Slade

Rachel is our Children's and Young People's advocate, and has many years of experience in Children's and Youth Work, including advocacy work with young patients at Addenbrookes Hospital. She is also a leader in "Winged Lions" and for "Late Create".

Sacristan: Alice McNab

Alice looks after the sacristy and makes sure that everything is ready for services at St Mark's. She also runs our dedicated team of altar servers, as well as being a leader at "Winged Lions" and helping at the regular Tuesday lunch club in the church hall.
